His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 84th Birthday

Updated: Aug 5, 2019

We celebrated His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 84th birthday on July 6th with a beautiful outdoor potluck picnic at Rinpoche’s residence. Tulku Jigme Rinpoche spoke about the Dalai Lama's great contributions to all of humanity and the responsibility of a good student to honor and help bring to fruition His Holiness's three noble commitments. These major commitments are:

  1. The promotion of human values such as compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, and self-discipline. The Dalai Lama is committed to promoting essential values that will make us happier.

  2. Promoting religious harmony — respect and understanding among different creeds. His Holiness wants people to acknowledge that, despite differences, all religions share one purpose: to create better human beings.

  3. Preservation of the endangered Tibetan people and their contemplative wisdom traditions and culture. As the leader of his nation, he is the most visible spokesperson of the Tibetans in their struggle for justice.

We shared a long-life prayer for His Holiness and had a birthday cake cutting ceremony. There was much joy and laughter shared as we celebrated His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

See you next year!
