The Palmo Center for Peace & Education is named in honor of a simple Tibetan woman of great wisdom. This gentle, unassuming woman and mother, lived a life of selfless giving, emulating His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s vision of compassion and kindness for all beings, working tirelessly on behalf of peace and dedicating her life to the betterment of humankind.
It is our hope and highest aspiration that this planned center for peace serves as a means to further the vision and legacy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Venerable Naljorma Jangchup Palmo. She is a key person responsible in bringing His Holiness the Dalai Lama to our community in 2013. In honor of the first visit of His Holiness to Eugene the group of Palmo Center volunteers created the “Peace Run” to involve the community in the celebration of such good fortune. Your participation is the event helps pay the cost of a permit for the park, EclecticEdge Racing fees for event management service and advertising fees. The “noon running group” is volunteering their services for the fourth year keeping folks on track and safe while behind the scenes volunteers of the Palmo Center plan and organize the details. Whatever funds above these costs brings the vision of the Palmo Center for Peace & Education closer to fruition. May this center not only become a peace center for Eugene but for America and the World. Your participation is appreciated!
